Behaviour Interactive has officially unleashed the latest chapter in Dead by Daylight, Sinister Grace, which sees the addition of a terrifying new Killer and an energetic new Survivor inspired by the nightmares of Thai folk lore. Touted as one of the most visually sinister updates ever released for Dead by Daylight, players can now enter The Fog and dive into the realm of Southeast Asian horror.
Since it first launched in 2016, Dead by Daylight has become one of the foremost asymmetrical multiplayer horror games, and its influences can be seen in a number of entries within the genre. Thanks to pop culture tie-ins, Dead by Daylight has introduced a multitude of horrifically delightful Killers and heroic Survivors to keep players invested over the years, and the newest additions are drawing in fans of both traditional body horror and the legends of Thai folk lore.
Dead by Daylight Sinister Grace Chapter Story and Characters
Sinister Grace introduces The Krasue, a grotesque skinless Killer with a gaping neck and disemboweled entrails, along with Survivor Vee Boonyasak, a Thai drummer from a hit Punk band. Sharing a musical connection, The Krasue was once an Opera singer named Burong Sukapat, who struck up a deal to gain a powerful voice by sacrificing her body to become a monstrosity. Burong used her ability to curse talented competitors and live audiences alike, before stalking the streets at night and devouring decaying corpses as a disembodied head. Vee, on the other hand, delighted fans with a surplus of charisma and swagger but stumbled upon haunting recordings of Burong’s singing and found herself drawn into The Fog. Both Vee and The Krasue join a growing lineup of musicians, as they join the fray in the Dead by Daylight Sinister Grace chapter.
Wanting to stay true to the performer origins of the characters, Behaviour Interactive placed a heavy focus on the Outfits for The Krasue and Vee. Product Director Rose Li notes that The Krasue’s Outfit reflects Burong’s time as an opera singer, while Vee’s clothing showcases “the chaotic sound and attitude of her band Axekick.” The two characters serve as mirrors to one another, introducing an interwoven similarity that is sharply contrasted by their respective fates and establishing a unique Killer and Survivor backstory in Dead by Daylight.
While the big-name crossovers in Dead by Daylight like Resident Evil, Alien, and Stranger Things have proven incredibly popular, many have voiced an appreciation for more original content like folk lore and legends from various countries across the globe. Thai horror has continued to gain traction in recent years, and the introduction of The Krasue and Vee Boonyasak in DbD has been noted by many as a positive step forward for fresh ideas in a long-standing game. Players can now check out the Sinister Grace chapter in Dead by Daylight across platforms.
