The 2024 FIFPRO Women's World 11 was announced Monday, and featured a heavy England contingent – but no USWNT players. Lucy Bronze, a stalwart for the Lionessess made her seventh appearance, while nominees Naomi Girma and Lindsey Horan weren't included in the final squad.

None of the "Triple Espresso" forward line that led the USWNT to an Olympic gold were among those on the 26-player shortlist. Back-to-back Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmati was named in the squad for the second time. England (22) have now surpassed the U.S. (20) as the leader in all-time Women’s World 11 country appearances.

The World 11 is the only global football award decided exclusively by the players. Since 2015, FIFPRO has invited women's football players to choose their World 11. A record 7,000 women’s football players voted for their team of the year.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

This is the first time in the nine year history of the women's award that no USWNT player has featured in the squad. There is, however, an NWSL influence, with the Orlando Pride's championship winning duo of Marta and Banda leading the line.

USWNT legend Alex Morgan was not voted into the side in her final round of eligibility after announcing her retirement earlier this year.

There is a strong Liga F influence in the side, with six of the honorees either currently or former of a Spanish football side. Barcelona lead all teams with five honorees – including the entire midfield.
