When the national team's roster was revealed last week, the Manchester United winger was not included. Former United winger Angel di Maria is favoured instead, while Paulo Dybala has also recovered from his injury and returned to the squad. The actual cause of Garnacho's absence has now been disclosed by Scaloni, who pointed to a lack of form as the main reason for his omission.

Erik ten Hag will likely be relieved that Garnacho is not playing for Argentina given the frequency of injuries this season for the Red Devils. When fit, Garnacho is one of United's most potent forwards. He is likely to be playing with Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund in a front three going forward.
WHAT SCALONI SAID
Scaloni told reporters: "Ale’s non-call-up is due to a form issue. During the last calls, he did not have minutes and we have to think about the human aspect as well too. He’s on our radar and will be part of our plans."

With the international break in action currently, Garnacho will have time to work with Ten Hag on his shortcomings as he will look to solidify his position in the Dutchman's plans for the future.
